Welcome (or almost welcome) to the Savage family! Read as much in this forum as possible to give you some idea of what is typical of the Savage or what may be a red flag.
I'd look at the handlebar ends and hand control levers to look for any signs of it being dropped. Even if it has been, that is just something you'll want to know to get more of a discount. I bought mine after knowing it was dropped in a driveway. I got a good deal. I'd also check the forks to see if they are straight. Look for cracks in the frame paint. Ask about the newness of the battery. Look for parts on the bike that look questionable.
Since they changed the muffler, I'd make sure it runs smoothly. They may have had to adjust the carb and it might sputter and spit more than you'd like.
One more thing: My advise is to take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course. You'll get your license at the end and learn good riding skills.
